EXT. NGARUNUI BEACH - DAY

The waves are getting stronger now and the backwash and rip tides more unpredictable. ANDY is picking himself up from falling off his board for the umpteenth time. The SURF INSTRUCTOR stands waist deep in the cold waters.

The SURF INSTRUCTOR checks his watch

SURF INSTRUCTOR
Okay everyone last wave!

ANDY spies what looks like a good wave coming and gets ready to try and catch it.

The SURF INSTRUCTOR takes hold of ANDY's surf board.

SURF INSTRUCTOR
Not yet mate, we'll try and catch a better one.

The wave ANDY was going to catch looses most of its power by the time it hits.

SURF INSTRUCTOR
Okay this one coming up. You ready?

ANDY
This is going to be a good one, this is going to be a good one.

ENTER WAVE [RIGHT]

SURF INSTRUCTOR
Go!

ANDY starts paddling hard as the wave catches the back of his board. The force of the wave sends him and the board forward. ANDY moves onto his knees and the board rocks a little becoming slightly off balance. Slowly ANDY moves into a crouching position using a technique he has only just made up (completely ignoring the method taught by the instructor). A few moments later ANDY is standing upright, he is actually surfing! To his surprise he stays upright and rides what's left of the wave along the beach only falling off when he pumps both fists in the air in triumph.

ANDY
Yeah!

FADE OUT.
